Legacy: Something transmitted by or received from an ancestor or predecessor or from the past (Merriam Webster Dictionary). There are many examples of God’s people intentionally building legacy in the Bible. Joshua set up twelve stones from the river Jordan to remember God’s clearing of the river for safe passage. He told the Israelites to use the stones as a reminder to tell their descendants about what the Lord had done for them. These examples of legacy in the Bible have a common theme: “Standing Stones.”
God wants us to recognize the standing stones around us today. One of these can be found today at Rock Springs Macon: The Living Word Sunday School Class. Dating back to the days of Mabel White on Second Street, where it was called the JC Johnson class, it has never ceased to share the Word with the church. The name changed to The Living Word after the church moved to its Bass Road location.
I invite you to join me in building on such a rich history. This is not a role to take lightly. The sainted members who came before us are counting on us to continue spreading the Living Word to a new generation.
Come with me on this journey of a lifetime. Come with me to ensure the story behind this “standing stone” will not be lost and add to the legacy that must be remembered.
